How to choose a domain name
Ideally your would want it to reflect your business name or site content. A unique and concise name that is easy to say, remember, and spell will be your best choice. (For example, the site to the left is allaboutthemoney.com.au as the owner of the site, Julianne Dowling, has wrote the book "All About The Money Honey").

Use only letters, numbers, and hyphens in your domain name. Spaces or other symbols don't work. If your first choice is taken, rearrange the word order, add hyphens, or using abbreviations to come up with a unique alternative.
For example:
- yourname.com.au
- your-name.com.au
- yn.com.au
Register your domain name. If your client base is mostly local (Australia) you'll want the .com.au name. For example yourname.com.au. You may also want to secure other "spaces" such as .net.au, .biz, .com etc to ensure other businesses can't leverage off you marketing and brand name. You can simply redirect all the other spaces to .com.au
To secure your domain name, submit the little form below, which will take you to Melbourne IT, which is our choice for effective and secure web registrations and hosting. Before you register, you need to ensure that the name is free. If it isn't, you can sometimes contact the owner and buy it, or else choose a similar name to register.
We recommend that you register your domain annually, but you can save lots of money if you register for more than one year, so if you have a long term online plan, then it's a great idea.
Arrange website hosting. Your website consists of files that a browser can read, and you need to arrange somewhere to store these. This is called hosting. To ensure that your site is safe, you'll want to ensure that you choose a reputable hosting company, that offers lots of space, an easy to use control panel and lots of support. Remember, while you need to be cost conscious, don't use price to select a hosting company, because you could end up with an unreliable site.
If you would like Blossom to arrange your hosting, we are more than happy to help you out, as we get good prices through our provider, and we've already done the research for you.
